International Parks Administrators head to Fremantle

The International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration is to hold its 2011 Asia Pacific Congress in Fremantle next month.
Combining with the Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) National Conference, the event is expected to attract in excess of 400 people listening to 60 papers and keynote speakers who will be focussing on the conference theme of 'partnering'.
Keynote speakers include:
ï¾ Dr William Bird ï¾ Developing healthy lifestyles through parks
ï¾ Derek Casey - The relevance of leisure for national and city strategies
ï¾ Dr Cecil C. Konijnendijk ï¾ Good green governance for healthy and competitive cities
The conference is being promoted by PLA and the focus has seen many local councils, sports bodies and commercial operators sector come together to promote the benefits of working together.
PLA is encouraging all organisations to join the conference this year and is urging parks and recreation professionals to take part in the debate on how as an industry we can achieve more by working together.
The event is being held at The Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle from 18th to 21st September.
