Industry first for Foxtel Music and YMCA Victoria
In a first for the Australian fitness industry, Foxtel Music powered by Stingray and YMCA Victoria have partnered to deliver a dynamic music service to YMCA-managed recreation facilities throughout Victoria.
The rollout will commence with 15 sites across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, with additional YMCA-managed facilities adopting the music service by the end of the year.
Troy Walker, Health and Wellness Manager at YMCA Victoria, said the agreement would deliver a better member experience, and enable the organisation to manage the quality of the music, and relevance of key promotions and messages delivered to patrons.
Walker advised “we know that music is a critical part of the environment in our facilities. It may seem unimportant, but it’s the seemingly little things that can have a big impact on our members. Until now, our approach to music programming has been inconsistent throughout centres.
“In working with Foxtel Business to implement Foxtel Music, we can now deliver playlists researched specifically for our communities, playing a range of music styles throughout the day, in the right location, for the right audience.
For example, we can have upbeat music in the gym, while a more relaxed style plays in the cafe. With this technology, we can also schedule localised advertising and centre announcements, so our members only hear messages that are relevant to them.
“Finally, supporting local industry in all its forms is important to the YMCA. This agreement gives us the opportunity to feature more Australian artists as well as giving us control over the consistency and quality of what is being played.”
Raelene Smethurst, Director of Foxtel Business, added “the YMCA are one of the largest leisure and recreation facility managers in the country and we are excited by the technological and content opportunities this partnership represents for Foxtel.
“More than 18 million visitors a year come through the YMCA’s doors in Victoria, and only a quarter of those people plug in their headphones when they’re working out. Implementing great targeted music throughout the facilities creates the perfect music experience for all their members.
“Together we will deliver a premium quality music and entertainment service consistent with YMCA’s brand values into facilities that have highly varied member demographics, operating hours, locations and services.”
