Inaugural Venue Safety and Security Exchange conference to be staged in Sydney

A new event focussing on venue safety and security for event and venue safety practitioners is to launch in Sydney in July.

To be held at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney on 12th July, the Venue Safety & Security Exchange (VSX 2023) will feature a specialist panel of speakers who have been involved in the planning and execution some of the most notable local and international events.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb will open the event, with Michael Croaker, from Village Roadshow Theme Parks, the Master of Ceremonies.

Eddie Idik, Director of Vital Protection Group and Chair of VSX 2023, says post-Covid event attendees have more expectation than ever when it comes to their safety.

Idik advises “venue operators and event organisers need to be looking at better ways of putting on events that enhance the customer journey.

“Event attendees are expecting events to be conducted in a safer way which includes better hygiene practices including non-contact screening equipment, overt cleaning teams and better communication pre and post events to name a few.”

Advising that the Conference’s inception was born from a gap in the market, with nothing that focuses specifically on the safety and security of events, Idik noted “coming from a major events security background and being involved in thousands of events throughout Australia, I’ve never come across an event that was just safety and security based for the events industry.

“VSX 2023 will be an annual event that provides a platform for venue and event safety and security innovation. There will be a big focus on event intelligence gathering using the latest technology including open source intelligence programs, counter terrorism alert systems and artificial intelligence.”

VSX 2023 is open for exhibitors, sponsors and delegate registrations.
