ICC Sydney team members recognised for innovative event technological solutions

Team members from International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, have been recognised at the AIPC Congress held in Costa Rica this week for presenting a top new technological platform concept.

ICC Sydney has produced another award-winning graduate of the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) Future Shapers leadership program following a competitive on-stage pitch to solve convention centre industry challenges at the AIPC Congress.

AIPC Future Shapers’ ‘FutureForce’ team, steered by ICC Sydney senior team member Gabriella Alberici, Senior Manager, Business Development – Corporate, Government & Events, and supported by Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Samantha Glass, together with representatives from convention centres in Paris, Belfast and Kuala Lumpur, was recognised for presenting a top new technological platform concept that will attract talent globally, foster career development, networking, learning, and raise awareness of the business events industry, optimising the industry’s most essential commodity – its people.

ICC Sydney Chief Executive and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC), Geoff Donaghy praised the commitment of Alberici and Glass in driving innovative solutions and sharing them via AIPC’s global platform.

Donaghy advised “our investment in upskilling and training coupled with our people’s ingenuity ensures that ICC Sydney remains at the fore of event management and technical delivery.

“We are incredibly proud to have established a culture that encourages our team of professionals to participate in this world class program that fosters innovation back in our business while building their global networks – which underpins the success we deliver for our clients today and into the future.

“ICC Sydney’s AIPC Future Shaper graduates have certainly represented the venue to the highest possible standard. Gabriella’s outstanding achievement as the Team Leader of the winning team FutureForce is a testament to her tenacity, collaboration and world class venue management practices.”

This achievement builds on the success of AIPC Future Shapers alumni with ICC Sydney team members represented in the leadership program each year since its inception including Senior Manager, Business Development National Associations, Dana Fish and Financial Controller, Sathyan Chandrasekhar in 2023, and Senior Manager - Public Relations, Sandra Rae in 2022.

The AIPC Chief Executive Sven Bossu steers the Future Shapers program with the support of an international taskforce who are instrumental in planning and delivering the course, including program founder, ICC Sydney Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Samantha Glass.

Samantha Glass shared “We set out to deliver a unique program to accelerate the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of our industry’s high performers. This year the participants have once again presented practical solutions to solve industry problems – attracting and retaining our brand and therefore talent and improving and clarifying communication for operational teams in centres.

“I could not be prouder of their collective efforts and performance throughout the nine-month program. I wish them every success in the future as they take their learnings back to their organisations – while helping to elevate and shape the future of events across the globe.”

The AIPC Future Shapers program is designed for senior managers with proven leadership skills who are looking for a learning opportunity with practical outcomes that benefit the broader industry. For more information about the AIPC Future Shapers program, visit Future Shapers – AIPC.
