Hyrox opens bidding for cities to host 2026/27 World Championships

Mass participation fitness challenge, Hyrox, has announced that for the first time it is inviting cities across the world to bid to host the Hyrox World Championships.

Hyrox has now opened two separate opportunities for bidding, the Season 2025/26 World Championships event or Season 2026/27 World Championships event.

Hyrox attracts elite and competitive athletes and regular gym-goers. It is a global fitness race which has experienced exponential growth in recent years – with 650,000 athletes set to race in Season 2024/25 and expected to hit one million participants in Season 2025/26.

The Hyrox World Championships are considered to be the grand finale of each season - hosted in Nice, France last year and heading to Chicago, USA in June this year. Athletes and spectators travel from across the globe to the host city, for a multi-day event which includes build up, pre-registration, the signature opening ceremony, four days of racing, globally- renowned sponsor activations and closing celebrations.

Global head of elite series and world championships Lara Tiramani enthused “we are excited to, for the very first time, be inviting cities across the world to bid to host the 2026 and 2027 Hyrox World Championships.

 “This event is the pinnacle of every Hyrox season and we’re very happy to now be presenting the opportunity for collaborative destination partnerships. Our objective is to make the next two Hyrox World Championship events bigger and better than ever before.”

Hyrox anticipates that its World Championship events will each attract over 6,000 athletes from more than 80 countries, along with 10,000 spectators. Interested cities will need to contact HYROX directly to request an invitation to bid. All bids have to include a completed financial proposal and supporting documents. 

Cities have until 1st May to submit their bid for hosting the Hyrox World Championships.
