Hunter Venues appoint first Chief Executive
The recently formed Hunter Region Sporting Venues Authority has appointed Mark Zundans as its first Chief Executive.
Bringing 15 years of venue management experience from a range of facilities, Zundans was appointed to the role to head up the authority in its formative years.
Commenting on his appointment, Zundans stated "I am extremely excited about the opportunities in the Hunter region and the proposed redevelopment of the sporting precinct in Newcastle. Having a new Board in place and full set of fresh eyes is an exciting prospect for Hunter Venues, so to hold the post of CEO in these formative years will be challenging and extremely rewarding.".
Hunter Venues Chairman, Ted Atchison, added "ww are excited about the development of the Newcastle Sporting Precinct and hope to continue to be an attractive destination for top level sport and entertainment, as well as providing the best facilities for the people of the Hunter region."
Based in Newcastle, the Hunter Region Sporting Venues Authority, trading as Hunter Venues, is an amalgamation of the Newcastle International Sports Centre Trust and Newcastle Showground and Exhibition Centre Trust, creating a unified approach to the management and development of venues in the region. It manages Energy Australia Stadium, Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Newcastle Showgrounds, and various sports facilities in the District Park precinct.
