Hunter Stadium signs long term deal with Knights and Jets
Venues NSW signed a hire agreement which will see the Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Jets continue to call Hunter Stadium their home until at least October 2020.
Venues NSW Chairman John Quayle believes the agreement is good news for the sports fans of the Hunter region, who will be able to cheer on the Knights and Jets while enjoying the first-class facilities at Hunter's centrepiece sporting venue.
Quayle explained "with these key partnerships confirmed Venues NSW will now focus on securing a naming rights sponsor for the Stadium and calls on interested parties to take part in an expression of interest process.
"This is a unique opportunity for the right company to associate their brand with this landmark facility and we are excited to renew our search following today's signing.
"With a state-of-the-art new grandstand, over 26 major events and more than 380,000 spectators visiting the venue each year, Hunter Stadium is an icon of sport in the region with a very bright future ahead."
Hunter Sports Group Chief Executive Troy Palmer added that the agreement is a real win for Newcastle and the Hunter, with a world class stadium now having its long term future secured with the two iconic teams of the region playing all year round.
Palmer stated "this agreement secures a quality venue for our members, fans and corporates and also highlights the opportunity for a major brand to come on board as a naming rights sponsor.
"I'm also pleased to have reached a resolution to finalise the long running turf dispute between the previous Knights management and the stadium."
