Hornsby Heights Football Club named Club Changer Club of Month
Football Australia and Football NSW acknowledge Hornsby Heights FC as the Club Changer, Club of the Month for "pioneering not just women and girls in football, but for leading and transforming community football into a greater sport for everyone".
Hornsby Heights, part of the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA), aims to provide opportunities for its members to play and develop their football skills in a competitive and supportive team environment, underpinned by the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.
As part of their Action Plan, some of the club's objectives are:
Increasing the capacity (player numbers), in each group Ages 6-11, 10-12.
Increasing the number of female coaches at a rate of 2 or 3 new coaches for the next 5 years.
Run the Daughters and Dads program later in the year, where dads are encouraged to engage with their daughter's teams, aiming to break the barriers of female participation and increase the representation of women and girls in football.
Besides these objectives, the club will utilise the hype of the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ and the expected influx of females interested in football to welcome new participants.
