Hopman Cup secures Volkswagen as official vehicle partner

While not having announced a naming rights sponsor for Perth’s year-opening tennis event, organisers of the Hopman Cup have announced Volkswagen as the event’s new official vehicle partner.

The new partnership signals the car manufacturer’s increasing commitment to tennis in Australia, after the brand joined forces with the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp, Apia International Sydney and the Priceline Pharmacy Classic - Kooyong in 2013.

Making the announcement, Hopman Cup Tournament Director Paul Kilderry stated “we are delighted to have Volkswagen on board and excited they can commit to the Hopman Cup. “To partner with an innovative, award winning brand, known for its quality, is a great opportunity for the Hopman Cup and reinforces the event’s strength in attracting prominent partnerships.”

During the Hopman Cup, which runs from Sunday 4th to Saturday 10th January at the Perth Arena, a fleet of 25 Volkswagen cars will help transport the world’s best tennis players and officials around the city.

Volkswagen will also activate the following during the seven day event:

• Volkswagen Baseline Challenge – taking place every day at Perth Arena, giving tennis fans the opportunity to take to centre court for the chance to win a Volkswagen Polo 66TSI Trendline

• Volkswagen Serving Challenge - fans can test the speed of their serve with the aim of featuring on the daily leaderboard

• Volkswagen Guessing Competition - fans have the opportunity to win great prizes, simply by guessing the number of tennis balls placed inside a Volkswagen Scirocco R.

Volkswagen will also be running their new online tennis game, Volkswagen Das Auto Tennis, at vwtennis.com.au where there will be more prizes and experiences to be won.

Hopman Cup is part of the Emirates Australian Open Series which also includes the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp, Apia International Sydney, Hobart International and the World Tennis Challenge (Adelaide).
