Hong Kong's Ocean Park launches annual membership

By Nigel Benton

Hong Kong theme park Ocean Park has unveiled an annual pass giving year-round access to its attractions.

Available at HK$1,380 (US$176) for adults, and HK$980 (US$125) for students and children, the new Ocean Park Annual Membership comes with a range of privileges including a one-time 25% discount at selected in-park restaurants in holders birthday month and year-round discounts on dining, events, shopping and animal programs.

It also allows members to bring their dog on Mondays and Thursdays.

Holders of the Ocean Park InFUNity Entry Pass, which offers unlimited access to the Park until 30th September 2023, will also enjoy a 15% discount if they sign up for the new Annual Membership within one month before or after InFUNity Entry Pass’ expiry date.

Panda Birthday Party
Celebrating the birthday of giant pandas Ying Ying and Le Le, who are turning 18 years old this month, the animal husbandry team at Ocean Park has joined with ice cream maker Häagen-Dazs™ to present the pair with ice cake birthday presents.

Using the duo’s favourite food items, including bamboo, purple sweet potato, carrot and pear juice as ingredients, the icy cakes are also helping Ying Ying and Le Le cool down through high summer temperatures.

Commenting on the role of their animal ambassadors, Ocean Park advise that “the city’s most well-known and popular animal citizens, Ying Ying and Le Le play an essential role in raising public awareness of the need to conserve biodiversity.

“Pandas are an example of an umbrella species whose protection indirectly protects many other species within an ecosystem. As an essential base for giant panda conservation, Ocean Park plays a significant role in protecting this important species.

“The regions where pandas live in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu are the homes of several other endangered species, including the endangered golden snub-nosed monkey, the near-threatened takin and the critically endangered crested ibis.”
