Hockey Queensland welcomes new General Manager
Hockey Queensland has announced that Kim Guerin will commence as the organisation's new General Manager next month.
Guerin has a career in sports management spanning over more than two decades, and will replace Garry West-Bail, who after 15 years of service, has decided to pursue new career opportunities.
With multiple tertiary qualifications, Guerin has confidently fulfilled and exceeded the expectations of all stakeholders in a number of management roles at a variety of organisations, including The University of Queensland (UQ), Griffith University, Tennis Queensland and Ozsports Arenas.
Guerin's experience and proven ability to identify areas of opportunity and improvement within sporting organisations culminated in her appointment as the Executive Director of UQ Sport Ltd, a position which she will now move on from after eight years.
In her role as the Executive Director, Guerin worked with UQ's Senior Executive and led a multi-disciplined management team covering a range of functional areas including Corporate Services, Marketing and Events, Sports Development, Sports Programs, Venue Operations and Business Development.
Guerin's managerial expertise has also been formally recognised by the Australian Institute of Management, with her being honoured as a finalist for the 2009 Professional Manager of the Year Award.
She is looking forward to becoming a part of the Hockey Queensland team, stating "I believe it is time for a new challenge in my professional career. The role of General Manager with Hockey Queensland presents an exciting opportunity for me to apply my experience and skills to contribute to the organisationâs vision to be hockey's best."
President of Hockey Queensland Dr Karin Walduck said she is confident Ms Guerin will build on the outstanding leadership Mr West-Bail has provided the organisation, adding "Garry has successfully managed many changes in the sport and the way he has handled these changes is a credit to him and his staff.
"On behalf of the Hockey Queensland Board I am proud to introduce our new General Manager Ms Guerin to the hockey community. I am confident that she will be embraced by the hockey family because of her enthusiasm for development and results."
