Harvey Norman named as sponsor for Australian Olympic Committee and Paralympics Australia

Harvey Norman named as sponsor for Australian Olympic Committee and Paralympics Australia

Retailer Harvey Norman has announced an extension of its partnership with Paralympics Australia and a new role as an official partner of the Australian Olympic Team for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) will see Harvey Norman assist the AOC to send teams to three key events in the next two years, the 2023 Australian Pacific Games Team in the Solomon Islands, the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics in the Chinese city of Gangwon and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Its sponsorship of Paralympics Australia extends a link that pre-dates the Rio 2016 Paralympics and was expanded further in 2019, with Harvey Norman names as the Official ‘Home Retailer’ Partner of Paralympics Australia and the Australian Paralympic Team.

Welcoming the support, AOC Chief Executive, Matt Carroll advised “the AOC is thrilled to have Harvey Norman on board as an Australian Olympic Team Partner.

“Harvey Norman have been great supporters of sport and athletes over many years, so it’s great to welcome them to our partner family from corporate Australia, supporting Australian athletes to achieve their Olympic dreams in Paris and beyond.

“With less than a year until the Australian Team takes part in a unique Opening Ceremony along the River Seine in Paris, it’s an exciting time for the Olympic movement in Australia.”

With Australia looking to consolidate its position as one of the world’s leading Paralympic nations at next year’s Paris Games, Paralympics Australia Chief Executive, Catherine Clark noted “we’re immensely proud of our partnership with Harvey Norman.

“The team at Harvey Norman is a dream to work with and we’re so pleased to broaden that relationship as we head towards Paris 2024.

“They have demonstrated a strong commitment to help us develop and grow Paralympic sport and support our incredible athletes while also engaging in Para-sport at non-elite levels.

“The years leading up to the Brisbane Paralympics in 2032 will be a pivotal time and the development of our collaboration with Harvey Norman is a very exciting prospect.”

Commenting on the retailer’s support, Harvey Norman Chief Executive, Katie Page added “our new partnership with the Australian Olympic Team as our athletes prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and we announce the renewal of our three-year partnership with the Australian Paralympic Team for a further two years.

“Announcing our partnerships with both our national teams simultaneously is what Harvey Norman is all about - to support and celebrate our Australian athletes competing at the highest level, representing our country, across the broadest range of sports.

“The Olympic and Paralympic Games are unrivalled platforms for recognising individual athletic brilliance, national celebration of team achievement and inspiring future athletes to believe what is possible, often in less prominent sports.”

Last month Harvey Norman entered into a sponsorship arrangement with Hoops Capital, the owner of Sydney Kings and Sydney Flames, becoming the major partner of both basketball teams.
