Hard Rock Cafe opens in Melaka

The world famous Hard Rock Cafe brand has opened its newest cafe location in the heart of the Malaysian city of Melaka.

The new Hard Rock Cafe Melaka, located at the entrance of Jonker Walk within Melaka's UNESCO World Heritage Site, marks the third Hard Rock Cafe in Malaysia, joining already popular locations in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

The 1,372 metre2 cafe includes seating for 200, an upscale vibrant bar, a spacious outdoor dining area, a live entertainment space that will feature Melaka's unique local music scene, and a Rock Shop. Select, hand-picked pieces of memorabilia from Hard Rock's iconic collection adorn the walls of Hard Rock Cafe Melaka.

Fans will be able to see items from legendary and contemporary musicians from around the world, including a Fender Telecaster guitar played and signed by Bruce Springsteen in the 1990s; a Ludwig snare drum used onstage by Alex Van Halen during Van Halen's 2004 world tour; a stylish white dinner jacket worn by Prince; a jacket worn by will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas while promoting his solo album Songs About Girls in 2007; Tom Petty's suede jacket and Rickenbacker guitar; and a vinyl suit worn onstage in the 1990s by Sir Elton John.

Welcoming the new location, Hard Rock International Senior Franchise Director of Operations, Asia Pacific, Matthew Putna stated "Melaka's rich history and fascinating architecture embraces the cultural diversity of the charming city.

"For over 20 years Hard Rock has been welcoming locals and visitors to the Malaysian Peninsula with our franchise partner Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Tan Sri Syed Yusof and HPL Ltd, and our newest location will continue offering Hard Rock's unique hospitality."

Guests of Hard Rock Cafe Melaka can enjoy fresh, high-quality items from Hard Rock's scratch-based menu, including the favorite Legendary Experience menu, featuring a mouth-watering selection of 10-ounce

Legendary Burgers. Hard Rock's Smokehouse Menu uses the very best Hickory wood chips to slowly cook its ribs and chicken to juicy, tender perfection. In addition to its food, Hard Rock Cafe's extensive, award-winning drinks menu includes Hurricanes, Margaritas, signature favorites and Alternative Rock (alcohol-free) beverages, all available in Hard Rock souvenir collectible glassware. Hard Rock's cocktails are handcrafted, just like its cuisine, and as authentic as the memorabilia on the walls.

The Melaka cafe's Rock Shop offers rock 'n' roll-inspired items, as well as collectible Hard Rock Cafe merchandise in its exclusive retail location. This Melaka-specific merchandise can only be purchased at this location, which offers an exclusive design quality that enhances each item's appeal. Fans can also acquire Hard Rock's much-coveted signature pins.

Since it was established in 1971, Hard Rock has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world, and Hard Rock Cafe Melaka carries this causal commitment to its market.

In every Hard Rock city, staff aim to become valuable community partners contributing funds, food and beverage, merchandise and time locally, as well as participating in global corporate philanthropic initiatives, ranging from breast cancer awareness programs, to rock icons' favourite causes through the annual Signature Series T-shirt program.
