Hamilton venues to operate as fully vaccinated facilities as part of new COVID-19 protection framework

Hamilton’s three major sport and entertainment venues - Claudelands, FMG Stadium Waikato and Seddon Park - will be operating as fully vaccinated venues when the New Zealand Government’s new COVID-19 Protection Framework comes into effect.

A statement from H3, the events arm of Hamilton City Council and operator of the venues, advised “this means everyone who is eligible to receive the vaccine will need to be fully vaccinated and hold a Covid Vaccine Pass to enter the venues and attend events taking place there.

“Having a vaccination requirement at our venue helps provide better certainty for us, our events and you, as it means we can continue to operate under all levels of the COVID-19 Protection Framework (with some restrictions as required), rather than enduring the venue closures and mass event cancellations that we’ve faced in recent times."

The statement continued “operating this way is also considered the best way to protect the health and safety of everyone at our venue. Advice from health experts around the world and our own Ministry of Health is that being fully vaccinated is currently the best line of defence we have against the spread of COVID-19.

“We are currently working through the finer detail of this new way of operating and will provide more specific detail once it is available.”
