Greater Shepparton’s Tatura Skate Park officially opens
Greater Shepparton City Council has advised that construction of the new Tatura Skate Park is now complete (ahead of schedule) and ready to be enjoyed.
The design and construction of the Tatura Skate Park was awarded to Drover Projects Pty Ltd who have 17 years of expertise in skate park design and construction, and a team consisting of professional skateboarders, BMX riders, and mountain bikers that brought extensive knowledge and experience to the project.
The project was designed with input from the community.
The project, included in Council’s 2024/2025 Budget and fully funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LCRI) Program, provides a greatly improved space with modern facilities that cater to skaters, BMX riders and scooter users of all skill levels.
The new skate park also features a subtle homage to the town’s famous vanilla slice, with a concrete vanilla slice bench incorporated into the final design.
Mayor Shane Sali shared “we appreciate the community’s valuable feedback and suggestions which were provided throughout the design process. This feedback helped shape a facility that will serve residents and visitors for many years.
“The new skate park is a great improvement from the existing park, and we look forward to seeing it utilised by skaters, BMX riders and scooters of all abilities. The addition of the concrete vanilla slice is the perfect finishing touch to recognise the town’s award-winning slice.”
