Gold Industry Group renews sponsorship deal with Netball WA
The Gold Industry Group, the industry association for Australia’s gold mining industry, has renewed its sponsorship of Netball WA, its charity arm Glass Jar Australia and its Super Netball team, the West Coast Fever.
The three-year renewal follows an initial $5 million deal struck in 2019 which was the biggest investment in netball in WA history.
The extended partnership sees the industry body remain the principal partner of Netball WA, a major partner of the training and development program called Glass Jar Australia’s Shooting Stars, and an elite partner of the West Coast Fever.
Netball WA and West Coast Fever Chief Executive, Simone Hansen said the sponsorship has helped boost netball participation in the state and “helped channel resources into the sport’s junior development.
“It has also served to promote employment opportunities in the gold sector and explain the benefits gold mining delivers for the economy and community.”
Hansen noted that other benefits delivered by the partnership were to help Netball WA remain connected to regional and remote communities and promote pathways for young women into education, employment and leadership roles in the community.
The Shooting Stars program now includes around 750 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls.
