Geohex takes on naming rights for Wagga Wagga’s home of rugby league

Australian-made erosion control brand, Geohex, has secured naming rights for Wagga Wagga’s premier rectangular sporting venue, and the home of rugby league in the city.

As a result of a deal with Wagga Rugby League Inc. to run for at least three years, the naming rights deal for the field at the Wagga Wagga Exhibition Centre (EQUEX) will see the venue take on the named Geohex Park.

Set to run for at least three years, it has the option of an extension until 2030.

It follows Wagga Wagga City Council agreeing last July to allow Wagga Rugby League to enter into an agreement regarding the naming rights for Field 2A at EQUEX.

Advising that Council acknowledges the importance of the partnership between Wagga Rugby League and Geohex, the Council’s Manager City Growth & Regional Assets, Ben Creighton explained “the support that Geohex is providing Wagga Rugby League will allow the organisation to continue to invest in the future development of one of the leading regional rectangular sporting facilities in the country.

“These partnerships are vital in ensuring the venue continues to attract elite sporting events while also supporting our local and regional, and school level athletes.”

Explaining that the partnership aligns perfectly with the company’s mission to grow its regional presence while supporting grassroots sport, Geohex founder and Managing Director, Matthew Holloway noted “Geohex is already the go-to solution for farmers and developers seeking a durable, sustainable way to stabilise soil and turf. From feedlots and stockyards to horse arenas and rural driveways, we’re helping regional Australia tackle erosion effectively.

“With a population of over 150,000, the Riverina is an ideal place for us to make a meaningful impact. Partnering with one of the region’s premier sporting hubs allows us to connect with the local community, raise awareness of our product, and give back to regional sport.”

The field has been a major drawcard for significant sporting events, hosting Canberra Raiders NRL Premiership matches and NRLW pre-season games, a Country v City Origin match, and ACT Brumbies trial games, as well as A-League and W-League pre-season games.
