Free entertainment and activities at Perth Cultural Centre 'O' Day

Perth's cultural heart will be pumping with entertainment and activity this Sunday as 'O' Day celebrations return to the Perth Cultural Centre.
Western Australian Planning and Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said 'O' Day would offer free entertainment for people of all ages with public tours of the new State Theatre Centre, designer markets, exhibitions and a range of children's rides and activities, stating "the State Government, through EPRA, has recently delivered $11million of short term improvements in the Perth Cultural Centre to help create a place that West Australians can be proud of.
"'O' Day is a great opportunity to discover, explore and enjoy the transformation of one of Perth's favourite public spaces."
Originally scheduled as part of the State Theatre Centre opening celebrations, 'O' Day had to be cancelled last month due to severe weather warnings associated with Cyclone Bianca.
Minister Day said rescheduling the event was important to show the potential of the Perth Cultural Centre as a premier events destination, adding "we are working to make the Perth Cultural Centre a creative, engaging, inclusive and memorable place to visit and experience.
"By attracting more festivals and events such as Fringe World and St Jerome's Laneway Festival, EPRA is continuing to enliven the area."
The Perth Cultural Centre houses some of Western Australia's most important cultural and learning institutions with more than one million visitors passing through the area each year.
Recent works completed in the centre include the creation of an urban orchard and native wetlands, improved lighting, furniture and landscaping, free WiFi access and the installation of retail pods to house cafe style vendors.
