Fortitude Valley PCYC receives development approval
The proposed redevelopment of PCYC Queensland’s Fortitude Valley facility has received approval. The DA is for a four-storey PCYC facility and a 12-storey commercial tower on the existing PCYC site at 458 Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley.
Queensland Minister for State Development Cameron Dick advised that the State Government would be working with Silverstone to deliver the new facility that will extend the services already offered by the club, to the benefit of PCYC Queensland members and Fortitude Valley locals.
PCYC Queensland Chief Executive Phil Schultz said the new facility would allow the organisation to enhance their services for the local community advising “PCYC Fortitude Valley was established in 1965 and today is one of PCYC Queensland’s oldest clubs. These purpose-built facilities will ensure PCYC Fortitude Valley will continue to be an iconic part of the local landscape.”
Plans for the 12-storey commercial tower include a café, three floors of carparking, eight floors of office space and a communal rooftop area.
The club plays an important role in fostering the development of local young people through sports, development and leadership activities, and crime-prevention.
In addition to club members and local residents, the new facility will also be made available to the newly opened Fortitude Valley State Secondary College, with multi-purpose spaces for suitable for basketball, gymnastics, fitness activities and more.
Silverstone Developments Managing Director Troy Daffy said the company, based in Fortitude Valley, was excited to move closer towards delivering an exciting new space for Fortitude Valley.
