Foam fire causes $2 million damage at Gravity Zone trampoline centre

Three people were taken to hospital on Friday (4th October) after a major fire at the recently-opened Gravity Zone trampoline centre in Melbourne's south-east.

The ABC reported that one firefighter and two men were taken to Frankston Hospital with smoke inhalation and minor injuries.

About 90 CFA crew members were called to the business in the Melbourne suburb of Seaford, with the fire burning through the roof of the premises.

Fire crews initially struggled to bring the blaze under control but were able to save the office area of the attraction and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.

It is estimated the fire caused about $2 million damage to the facility which only opened at the beginning of September.

A Victorian Country Fire Authority spokesperson said that the fire appeared to be have been started by a maintenance worker's use of a blow torch close to a foam pit.

Gravity Zone management has been communicating with users and patrons with bookings via Facebook, advising "Gravity zone has experienced an emergency to our building and we will need to close for a period of time."
