Fitness First's new 'Titanium' club launched as Australia’s first 'connected gym'
Fitness First has opened its first ever 'Titanium' club in Sydney’s Barangaroo development on Sydney Harbour, providing access to world class fitness innovations and group fitness solutions.
Set in an 1,200 metre² space filled with natural light, Fitness First Barangaroo claims to be Australia’s first ‘connected gym’ with a strong emphasis on fitness technology and innovation to help members track and measure their fitness journey.
Located in Tower One of International Towers Sydney as part of the Barangaroo urban renewal project, the facility offers, according to the Fitness First website “a world class fit-out, utilising the latest fitness and technological innovations, as well as the ultra-premium comfort you would expect from an industry leading club.”
Adrian Holdsworth, Fitness First’s National Product Manager explains “we’re proud to be promoting health and wellness in this landmark location, providing busy CBD workers and residents with convenient access to the very latest fitness innovations.”
Fitness First Barangaroo will feature word-class fitness technology with connected equipment offering innovative training solutions and multimedia access including Netflix and YouTube. Also on offer is body composition mapping, and holistic health assessments via BioScore.
A free app - My Fitness First - automatically connects to cardio and resistance equipment in the club, making tracking progress more streamlined, helping members meet their goals. Workouts are automatically recorded and synced via the My Fitness First App, providing members with instant feedback to help them improve technique, as well as offering personalised fitness programs that automatically advance when the user is ready, including video demonstrations and instructions.
InBody Scanners will help members understand their body composition, measuring levels of body fat, lean muscle mass, muscular development, bone mineral content and more, while BioScore assessments provide a holistic health analysis, so members can learn where they stand, and how they can go further.
With fitness technology the way of future, Holdsworth says the benefits are unlimited, adding “with new fitness innovations being released every day, the potential of using fitness technology to help monitor, kick start, maintain and measure your fitness journey is immense.
“We are embracing technology wholeheartedly, offering connected equipment to help members better and more accurately measure and track their performance, plus analytical products and health assessments, all to ensure our members have access to the latest innovations to help them go further in their fitness journey.”
Quietly opened earlier this month, the club provides members with a wellness studio offering Pilates, yoga, BARRE and relaxation classes along with more than have 50 group exercise classes every week, with an extensive range including BODYATTACK, BODYPUMP, BODYSTEP, Boxing and HIIT.
The club also features a range of VMO screens and aims to offer “a unique fitness system ... where workers and residents ... have access to the very latest fitness innovations from Fitness First within a short walk from their office or home.”
Access to the club is via a new premium Fitness First membership, ‘Titanium’, which provides exclusive access to Fitness First Barangaroo, as well as all Fitness First facilities Australia-wide.
A limited number of ‘Black Label’ memberships are also available which includes a permanent onsite locker, complimentary towels and a complimentary laundry service.
Investing in the development of the new site, Fitness First Barangaroo will support Fitness First’s 61 strong network of clubs across Australia’s Eastern seaboard.
Holdsworth concludes “not only is the expansion into the Barangaroo development testament to our commitment to providing members with fitness solutions that suit their lifestyle and the way they choose to move, it will pave the way forward in innovative fitness.”
The club’s low key opening potentially being a result of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) current investigation of Quadrant Private Equity’s planned acquisition of Fitness First’s Australian clubs for its new Fitness and Lifestyle Group entity.
Last year Fitness First opened an exclusive, invitation-only, 'Gravity' club in Singapore.
