Fitness Australia sets objectives for 2012 and beyond
Fitness Australia, the peak industry body representing exercise professionals, gyms, fitness centres and the health and fitness industry, has laid out a busy agenda for its activities for 2012 and over the next five years.
In a communication to members, Fitness Australia states that it seeks to achieve the following strategic objectives over the next five years:
1. To enhance industry standards in order to improve service delivery, enhance reputation and build community confidence in fitness industry services;
2. To enhance the quality of the industry's workforce through effective workforce planning and capacity building;
3. To represent the interests of our members through advocacy on issues concerning the environment in which our members operate.
Within this, Fitness Australia has set key strategic projects streaming from the objectives for 2012. These are to:
ï¾ Continue to build the industry quality framework,
ï¾ Conduct strategic workforce planning,
ï¾ Continue to improve and enhance the professional registration and continuing education systems,
ï¾ Continue to work with government at all levels to achieve beneficial regulatory and policy reform, and
ï¾ Partner with government, health professionals and other key stakeholders in order to meet national preventative health objectives.
The main advocacy projects that Fitness Australia encourages all registered exercise professionals and business managers to follow include:
ï¾ Reform of the current Fringe Benefit Tax legislation and
ï¾ Working with local councils with the aim for fair and consistent policies and fees for fitness businesses to access public space for exercise sessions. (Fitness Australia has already completed a position statement on current Council Outdoor Training Policies).
