First Installations of zero infill long pile synthetic turf
An innovative new synthetic turf product which has removed the need for sand and rubber infill is now available in Australia.
The XL PRO synthetic turf system from the European based XL TURF AG has had its first Australian installation carried out in Langwarrin, Victoria. The project was to provide a football pitch installation suitable for both junior and senior sport which could withstand widespread use without the need for extensive ongoing maintenance.
The XL PRO synthetic turf system was the brainchild of Albert Beerli, a PhD scientist in chemical engineering who wanted to replicate the feeling of playing on natural grass but without its associated restrictions. Created in 2004 and with completed projects throughout Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia XL TURF AG are recognised as global leaders in the field of synthetic turf technology.
The design and manufacturing process has created a unique product that its Australian distributor, Australian Sporting Surfaces Pty Ltd believes will revolutionalise the Australian synthetic sporting field industry.
The surface provides optimal ball performance with ball bounce and roll equal to natural grass surfaces. The grass pile remains upright at all times without the need for rubber granules that emit heat and odour as a result from Australiaâs harsh climate. The productâs design has created the stability necessary to remove the need for supporting sand infill. The unique properties ensure avoidance of friction grazing and heat burn that are bi-products of infill synthetic turf systems. Maintenance is practically zero âregular brushing and the removal of surface debris keeps the âgrassâ looking at its very best, even with intensive use.
The product is fully recyclable and, where utilised, its accompanying shock pad system is fully reusable.
The XL PRO synthetic turf system with its partnered shock pad passes all FIFA 1 STAR and AFL/Cricket Australia testing procedures and therefore is ideal for multi-use sporting fields.
