FIBO CHINA grows to become Asia’s leading fitness event

The organisers of FIBO CHINA 2019 have advised that the leading fitness trade show for the Asian market is set to “outperform itself” when it is held next month.

Being held from 22nd to 24th August 2019 at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Centre, the exhibition will see more than 450 brands displaying their products to not only buyers from fitness clubs and sports venues but also from sectors such rehabilitation and nursing care as well as public welfare institutes, hotels, import and export companies, sport articles stores, importers, trainers and fitness enthusiasts.

Dr. Mike Seidensticker, Press Spokesman for organiser Reed Exhibitions, explains “like FIBO in Germany, FIBO CHINA covers all branches of the fitness industry.

“Be it training equipment, functional training, health training, EMS, wellness and beauty, group fitness, nutritional supplements, interior furnishing or also consulting services – this is where trade visitors find the complete package.”

New areas for the 2019 edition will include aqua fitness, yoga, bodycare/spas as well as nutrition for sportspeople.

FIBO and fitness in China
Last year, the Chinese fitness industry posted a production output of some Yuan 160 billion (US$23 billion) with an expected further rise in growth by 15.6 % in 2020.

With 47,000 fitness clubs, half of which are located in the country’s Top 10 cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, 10% of the population of these cities work out in fitness clubs.

Furthermore, the sector in China not only includes the clubs but also many other institutions such as state-run fitness venues, sports clubs and health institutes.

Due to strong demand, last year saw FIBO CHINA move to the National Exhibitions and Conference Centre in Shanghai with the exhibition space to be enlarged by one third this year to 60,000 metres².

FIBO CHINA is ahead of other trade shows in the region, especially in terms of internationality with brands such as Life Fitness, Matrix, Precor, SportsArt, Star Trac and Technogym capitalise on FIBO CHINA to do business on the growing Asian fitness market.

This international presence gives Chinese buyers an even better insight into the relevant trends in the industry and foster communication with international suppliers. However, there is also an increase in the number of exhibitors headquartered in China.

In terms of visitors, China forms the focal point with its great market potential. However, attendance here is now also becoming increasingly international. Of the 1,200 international visitors last year, many came from Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, the USA, India and Australia.

FIBO around the world
From Cologne to Shanghai and from Johannesburg to Miami: FIBO is expanding its global activities and is directly represented on target markets.

FIBO in Cologne is the world’s leading trade show for fitness and wellness, attracting over 1,200 exhibitors and 145,000 visitors to Germany every year.

Since 2014, FIBO China has been the central meeting point for the Asian fitness industry. In 2017, the first FIBO event was held in South Africa, today’s FIBO Global Fitness Africa and 2018 saw the launch of FIBO USA.
