Female leaders gather for Ignite Women's Fitness Business event

Australia’s first Ignite event devoted to issues relating to women in the fitness industry saw more than 50 participants fill the conference room at Melbourne’s historic InterContinental in Collins Street last Friday.

Female industry stakeholders from across Victoria travelled to be part of the first Ignite Women's Fitness Business event, with leading speakers taking to the stage to educate women on eliminating burnout, leadership, fitness technology, negotiation, conflict resolution skills, reducing working hours and business start-up plans.

Speakers included Michelle Furniss and Margaret Weller of Debitsuccess explaining why Metrics Matter; Kelly Weideman of Evolt360; Laraine Dunn, who introduced her new OATS50+ exercise program for ageing Australians; technology expert Meghan Jarvis of Total Fitness on the Future of Fitness Technology, and  Menofitness founder Lyn Miller – whose program has made significant headway in the niche market of women’s 40-plus fitness.

All addressing the event were Velocity Legal Melbourne’s business law specialists, Emma Milne And Rosalind Li, who delivered exceptional presentations on superannuation, tax, property and fitness business.

For Ignite Fitness founder Mel Tempest, this was her third successful Ignite Fitness Business Event for 2019 including the series’ inaugural Singapore event.

As a presenter, Tempest will soon be presenting at the FIBO USA 2019 Fitness Business Convention in Miami, Florida.

Commenting on the event, Tempest stated “(this) is the beginning of a new breed of women’s leadership, we have created a community of collaborative experts supporting each other out in the open for the betterment of the industry.

“The success of our events in 2019 tells us we are on track to making a significant change to the industry.

“People vote with their feet in gyms and they are voting with their feet at our events.”

Analee Gale from All Smiles Creative was MC for the event while Jack Lee of Novu Creative created promotional materials leading up to its staging.

Presenter and sponsorship applications are now open for Ignite Fitness events in 2020.
