Family agrees to State Memorial for Michael Gudinski
The family of Michael Gudinski have advised that it has accepted the Victorian Government’s offer of a State Memorial to celebrate the legendary promoter’s life.
With Gudinski to be buried at a private family funeral this week, the State Memorial will be held on the evening of Wednesday 24th March 2021 at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
Gudinski died in his sleep at the age of 68 at his Melbourne home on 2nd March.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, who last week said the music entrepreneur’s death was a “shock”, yesterday confirmed details of the Rod Laver Arena, advising "this unique State Memorial will celebrate that lifelong passion and honour his significant contribution to the Australian music industry and the state of Victoria.
Premier Andrews last week said the memorial would be a “celebration of his life”.
Family, friends and colleagues will be invited to attend the memorial and members of the public will be able to register to attend.
A statement from the Mushroom Group advised that "the family request privacy at this time and wish to thank everyone for their support and kind messages".
