Fairfield’s new community and youth centre provides vital recreation opportunities
Fairfield City Council has opened a new facility that will provide vital educational, vocational and social activities for youth and the wider community in Western Sydney.
The newly opened $9.9 million Fairfield Youth and Community Centre offers multi-sports courts, breakout space, rock-climbing, trampolines and program rooms
Western Sydney-based Senator Marise Payne said “the centre will be an exciting place for young people to meet and will provide them with an array of activities and recreational space.
“The new facilities will also provide young people a safe haven, off the streets, for meeting and interacting.”
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said he was proud that the project is complete and the youth and greater community can enjoy the new centre.
Mayor Carbone stated “the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre is a huge, much needed asset for our community, designed by youth for youth.
“This is a vital part of the larger Fairfield Park precinct, which already contains our iconic Adventure Park. Hundreds of young people will be able to use this state-of-the-art centre every week, generating even more activity within this great precinct.”
Fairfield Park is a popular, family-friendly recreational precinct, which attracts people crowds from across the Fairfield local government area.
The new 3,000 metre² was funded with $7.3 million from the Australian Government, $2.3 million from the Fairfield City Council and a $250,000 contribution from the Mount Pritchard & District Community Club Limited (the Mounties Club).
