F45 launches new one-day only workout class inspired by Netflix’s Wellmania series

F45 Training and Netflix have partnered to promote the release of the new series Wellmania premiering on the subscription channel as of next Wednesday (29th March).

Together with comedian Celeste Barber they will present the Wellmania workout, blending the best of HIIT training with breathing and meditation.

Wellmania follows the fictional character Liv Healy (played by Barber), a lifestyle journalist in pursuit of physical and mental wellness.

Barber, who became popular parodying the often absurd outfits and awkward poses female celebrities routinely contort themselves into on Instagram, has gone on tour internationally.

She also made global headlines in early 2020 when raising more than $50 million for rural fire services during the bushfire crisis of 2019/20.

Barber’s first major on-screen role, Wellmania is very loosely based on the nonfiction book of the same name by former Guardian Australia writer Brigid Delaney (who co-created the series) about her personal journey through the wellness industry.

Barber, who is also Wellmania’s Executive Producer, told Guardian Australia “I read the book and I was like, ‘This is a brilliant idea’.

“I love Brigid’s writing: she’s very clever, very personable - and funny! Really funny - so I was on board from the beginning.”

Barber was drawn to Delaney’s experiential and even-handed approach to the world of wellness and all its potential cures.

She adds “it’s easy to poke fun at it - I’ve made a career out of it - but this is a multibillion industry that can save lives.

“Some of it might not be a fad - it might actually be quite good - but sometimes it is just bullshit.

“The wellness industry is like the new form of church or organised religion: a lot of people find answers in it. It’s so big, and so vast, you can pick and choose what helps you.”

F45's Wellmania workout
F45 Training's workout inspired by the series will feature F45 ambassador, Morgan Mitchell demonstrate exercises on F45 studios’ screens.

Available in participating F45 studios in countries where Netflix is available alongside the series premiere, F45 and Netflix enthusiasts can sign up for the class from today through the F45 Training app, selecting 29 March 2023, choosing their local studio, and any class titled ‘Wellmania | A Netflix Series’.

Commenting on the partnership, F45 Training Chief Marketing Officer, Brian Killingsworth advised “F45 is delighted to be partnering with Netflix to celebrate the premiere of the new series, Wellmania, by launching a one-off workout.

“This session has been curated to blend the very best of HIIT training, with elements of wellness, breathing, meditation - and a lot of laughs to get you through burpees.

“We encourage all fitness enthusiasts around the world - whatever fitness level they’re at - to take the first step in their wellness journeys and join us at F45 studios on 29th March for a session like no other.”
