Expressions of interest open for delivery of innovative businesses to Rottnest Island
Expressions of interest are now open to established operators to bring new and innovative businesses to Rottnest Island. Last year's new businesses offerings included cruises on a traditional pearl lugger boat, handcrafted ice cream, guided cycling tours, yoga and wellness, beach safety education and an app for hiking trails.
WA Tourism Minister Reece Whitby said investment into island infrastructure and increased accommodation options were driving the island's economy with high visitation from local, interstate and international visitors and continuing the island's status as one of Western Australia's premier holiday destinations.
The 2025 Recreational EOI application outlines two key categories:
recreational activities and experiences; and
Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences.
Minister Whitby noted "Rottnest Island has seen another successful summer holiday period, with visitors experiencing new offerings such as cruises, yoga and guided tours.
"Tourism operators and businesses are integral to the visitor economy and generate job opportunities, and we're looking for experienced business operators to set up shop on this beautiful island.
"The unique natural environment of Rottnest Island provides a great opportunity for nature-based tourism operators to showcase the many wonders of the island.
"The 2025 Recreational EOI is an opportunity for new businesses to enhance the range of recreational, tourism, hospitality and retail offerings already on the island."
Further information on the EOI process is available at ria.wa.gov.au.
Applications close at 4pm Australian Western Standard Time, 29th April 2025.
