Exeter Soccer Club receives funding to help athletes stay hydrated

Exeter Soccer Club, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, has received $6,000 in grant funding through Council’s 2022/23 Community Assistance Scheme to install a water refill station at Exeter Oval which now provides quality drinking water for both athletes and residents.

The Club applied for funding through Council’s 2022/23 Community Assistance Scheme and with additional funding secured through Veolia Mulwaree Trust, the water refill station was installed earlier this month.

Exeter Soccer Club President, Greg White notes “staying hydrated is especially important for athletes. It can help it improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

“Having a water refill station on hand will mean savings for local families because they won’t need to buy bottled water on game day.”

“Special thanks to ARK Plumbing & Gas-fitting who installed the station too,” added White.

Council’s Coordinator Community Development, Corrine Buxton, says this grant’s success will benefit other valued family members too.

“The water station we’re funding is multifunctional, serving as a bubbler and bottle refill station. It even has a built-in dog bowl for our four-legged residents and their proud owners,” said Buxton.

“Making fresh drinking water available is one way we can support the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce waste generated by disposable bottles.”

The water refill unit is located on Exeter Road, adjacent to the Village Store.

Applications for the 2023 Veolia Mulwaree Trust program are currently open and close on Thursday 1st June. For more information click here
