Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to put 'Royal' into 2014 Sydney Royal Easter Show

Sydney's upcoming Royal Easter Show will live up to its name this year, welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton to the Sydney Showgrounds on Good Friday morning.

The visit, part of the Duke and Duchesses tour of New Zealand and Australia, will also see the couple visit the Sydney Opera House, take a ferry to Sydney's Admiralty House and watch a Manly surf carnival.

The visit to the Royal Easter Show will be one of the higlights of this year's event which will be boosted by falling across the two weeks of the NSW school holidays.

Looking forward to the event, Chief Operating Officer Michael Collins stated "we've got activities and entertainment that are completely unique to the Show, and best of all, when you purchase a ShowLink ticket your return public transport is included."

Show highlights for 2014 include Dinosaur Adventures an interactive walk-through exhibition featuring 29 life-sized animated creatures with reptilian skin that roar, breathe and stomp - and 'Australiana In All its Glory', a new evening production, celebrating this great southern land.

Also making its debut in Sydney will be 'Goin' Ape Gorillas in your midst', performed all around the world, showgoers will be entertained by the antics of a family of four naturalistic mountain gorilla performers and their intrepid 'explorer' friend.

However, Collins is most excited by Australiana In All its Glory, which also feature a spectacular 12-minute fireworks finale.

Collins explains "my top entertainment pick is the original production Australiana - In All Its Glory, celebrating all that we love about Australia - our breathtaking landscapes, incredible innovations, inspiring people and passion for sport.

"The 45-minute production will take audiences on a sensory journey filled with live performances from singers, dancers, whip-crackers, lifesavers, rally drivers and MotoX riders, who will all play a part in representing and celebrating aspects of Australian life, history and culture."

Spanning Australia's breathtaking landscapes, incredible innovations, inspiring people and passion for sport, the production will take audiences on a sensory journey filled with visual delights, live action and performances, all to the sound of classic Australian soundtracks.

With over 100 rides and games on offer, the Sydney Royal Easter Show will again be home to Australia's largest carnival with some of the most exhilarating and thrilling rides in the country such as the 'Crazy Spinning Coaster' and 'Extreme'.

News rides in the carnival area this year include 'Freak Out' and 'Airmax 360' while the Kids Carnival will feature classic family rides including the 'Carousel', 'Super Slide' and 'Wave Swinger'.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is being held from Thursday 10th to Wednesday 23rd April 2014.
