Etihad Stadium highlights its versatility

While Etihad Stadium is best known for staging sporting events, the recent presentation of 'A Night on the Green' has highlighted the venue's capacity to present innovative events.

The function, organised for the stadium's Medallion Club members and guests, provided an opportunity for guests to take a long iron and chip alongside the Level 2 AFL coaches box to a pin on the arena, 150 metres away.

In partnership with Callaway Golf the guests were joined by A-League recruit and ex Socceroo Harry Kewell, actor and model Scott McGregor and Channel 7 presenter Hamish McLaughlan, who all demonstrated that despite their chosen careers, they'd also spent plenty of time on the gold course.

Guest Dave Muir chipped nearest to the pin and walked away with a gleaming set of clubs and bag provided by Callaways while a guest list of almost 200, went home well satisfied after a banquet prepared by Melbourne Stadiums Limited in house caterers, with fine wines provided by Penfolds.

Etihad Stadium Chief Executive Paul Sergeant said the function, hosted outside the venue's busy calendar of events, "demonstrates Etihad Stadium's versatility as a venue, and highlights some of the great offerings which accompany Medallion Club membership."

The next special event for Medallion Club members will be on New Year's Eve.
