Eden Park adapts All Blacks' dressing room into wedding chapel
New Zealand’s largest stadium, Eden Park, has launched a wedding venue service that allows brides and grooms to share their vows in the changing room of the legendary All Blacks.
Named the Change Room Chapel, the venue will, according to the stadium’s operators, be of interest to “locals and internationals looking for a short lead time wedding venue that provides the ultimate off-field event”.
A basic package carried a price tag of $795 plus GST includes access to the changing rooms and turf, conducting the ceremony, champagne for the newlyweds and a personalised Change Room Chapel wedding certificate.
The Chapel can also assist with bouquets and flowers, a videographer, professional photographer, chapel themes and team jerseys.
While the Auckland venue spot has hosted weddings before, the Change Room Chapel is a new venture.
Eden Park Chief Executive Nick Sautner said the new chapel offered a wedding experience "unmatched" in New Zealand, advising “for many, sport is a religion and to combine memorable sporting moments with a couple's special day at New Zealand's national stadium will guarantee a truly unique wedding day.
“Although our core business will always be events, due to current council restrictions as both our regulator and competitor, Eden Park will continue to explore new ideas that then can be implemented at other iconic venues globally.”
