Ed Sheeran opens UOB Live Bangkok

Bangkok’s UOB Live entertainment venue has staged its opening event, an Ed Sheeran concert, in front of a 6,000-capacity crowd.

Developed with the aim of becoming a world class entertainment venue for South east Asia, the venue’s first event followed Sheeran’s sold-out '+ – = ÷ x Tour' stop at Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium, offering a more intimate experience for fans.

Located on the 6th floor of the EmSphere mall in the Em District of the Thai capital, UOB Live has been developed by Thai retail and entertainment complex company The Mall, sports and entertainment group AEG and Asian banking group UOB.

Last night's opening event, entitled ‘An Evening with Ed Sheeran’, represents the first in a series of upcoming concerts and special events.

Commenting on the success of the inaugural event, Craig Grossarth, General Manager of the ASM Global operated UOB Live, stated “we are thrilled with the success of Ed Sheeran’s extraordinary concert at UOB Live.

“True to providing an exceptional experience for both artists and audiences, we look forward to welcoming world-class artists, and many more talented Thai artists, in the near future. We are ready to be a centre for organising live entertainment events. To meet all the needs of organising events, every taste and preference.

“This event truly showcased the potential of our venue to deliver exceptional experiences for both artists and audiences. We look forward to welcoming many more iconic acts to UOB Live in the future.”

Singapore-based UOB took on the naming-rights for the venue in October 2022 while AEG Global Partnerships announced last week that Bacardi and Volvo had signed deals to become the first founding partners at UOB Live.
