DraftStar gets AFL clubs structured

In an effort to lead young players in the right direction, AFL clubs are to hand out weekly programs to their players to describe where they need to be and what they need to be doing.
Developed by DraftStar, the structured programs cover in-season, off-season and weekend activities.
Introducing the program, a DraftStar spokesperson explained "during the season, the players will be playing and they will be handed new programs at the beginning of each week describing what they need to do. This will include training, meetings, recoveries, etc.
"Teams will normally have two main training sessions throughout the week that will require them to be at training for meetings, and other requirements that the coaching staff and medical staff need them there for.
"The medical staff play a big role in the program that is handed to the players.
"Players who are injured will still be required to attend training for rehabilitation that they will need on their respective injuries.
"Mondays are normally saved for a light training session, recovery and a review of the weekend's match. The players will spend a lot of time doing hot and cold treatments to let their bodies recover properly. The entire playing group will sit down with the coaching staff and watch the match from the weekend and pick out what they did right and what they did wrong.
"In the weekly program, the players are allowed a day off away from the club that they will either use to study for a course they are doing to set themselves up for life after football or carry on with their job that they have outside of the AFL already.
"A number of AFL players own their own businesses.
"Thursdays are every team's main training session to prepare for the game coming up on the weekend. This will be the most physical training session for the week. They will work out ways to stop their opposition and how they can beat them.
"A properly structured program within a football club is vital."
