Double award for Clare & Gilbert Valley's Lifestyle Centre
Clare & Gilbert Valley Council's The Valleys Lifestyle Centre was a double award winner at the Links Modular Solutions, 2011 State Aquatics Conference, presented by Recreation SA. The facility won the award for 'Aquatic Facility of the Year' and while lifeguard Joanne Smith was named 'Lifeguard of The Year'.
The Valleys Lifestyle Centre was awarded with 'Aquatic Facility of the Year' for excellence in infrastructure, environmental efficiency, financial viability, innovative programming, HR and risk management.
Explaining the award Recreation SA Chief Executive Ian Dewey stated "the Valleys Lifestyle Centre is a valuable asset to the community of Clare."
Joanne Smith, who was named 'Lifeguard of the Year' is a highly experienced and industry leader who is a mentor for young lifeguards. Joanne puts in countless hours of volunteer work, she is an educator and role model for staff and her community. She provides guidance and leadership for other lifeguards and she is passionate about safety and the overall experience of swimmers at The Valleys Lifestyle Centre.
