Disability Sports Australia and National Rugby League partner through Sports Incubator program
Disability Sports Australia has announced a working partnership across disability sport with National Rugby League a partnership that will focus on several key aspects allowing National Rugby League to progress participation and pathways across disability.
Sports Incubator is designed to provide key deliverables for mainstream National Sporting Organisations around understanding adaption and inclusion for Australians with a disability to actively participate in their sport.
This partnership with National Rugby League will focus on the growth and reach of disability RL bodies and associations as well as upskilling selected Community Sports Clubs to undergo adaption and inclusion training which is the first step in opening participation at grass roots levels.
The partnership will also focus on the core pathway for disability rugby league across physical, sensory and intellectual adaptions of the game.
Disability Sports Australia Chief Executive, Murray Elbourn notes “this is a great opportunity to work with a national sport leader, to progress equality in the disability sport space”.
NRL Representative John Wilson added “The NRL sees this partnership as a great step forward for our partner bodies, volunteers and participants to grow their connection and engagement with rugby League. Disability Sports Australia will provide expert support and guidance that will see an increase in opportunities for people of all abilities to play the game”
Disability Sports Australia are eager to link the work done in their Sports Incubator program to their new initiative of NDSP National Referral Hub - adding to participation through working with NRL clubs to maximise benefits of an Australians with a disability being more active, more often.
