David van Ooran announced as Executive Director of Perth Zoo
Perth Zoo has appointed David van Ooran as its Executive Director - succeeding acting Executive Director Claire Wright in the role.
van Ooran has extensive experience across local and State Government and has previously held leadership positions at WA Museum and Tourism WA.
His appointment comes at the same time as Perth Zoo seeks to implement the next stages of its 20-year Master Plan, which has already benefitted from a $51 million investment by the WA Government.
That funding supported the opening of a new café, playground, and function centre, with construction of new gibbon habitat due to commence in May.
Western Australia Environment Minister Reece Whitby congratulated David van Ooran on his appointment and thanked Claire Wright for her tenure.
One of Western Australia's most popular destinations, Perth Zoo last year attracting nearly 800,000 visitors.
