Perth Zoo offers summer exhibitions and entertainment

The closure of Perth Zoo earlier this year due to COVID-19, reinforced the Zoo being an important place for the whole community - not only children - and so they have created a summer event schedule to appeal to everyone.

Throughout Summer, Perth Zoo is delivering a family-friendly Smurf exhibition, longer opening hours and acoustic musical sessions for the Valentine’s weekend.

Throughout January, Papa Smurf and his friends will be on show throughout the Zoo grounds, encouraging children to learn how small actions can have a positive impact on the environment.

In February, back by popular demand, Perth Zoo will host acoustic music sessions over the Valentine’s weekend. Zoocoustics, will feature some of Western Australia’s best up-and-coming musicians within the lush gardens of the Zoo, providing a romantic backdrop for loved-up couples.

The summer line-up caps off with the Perth Festival taking over the Zoo for their festival finale, Wild Things.

WA Environment Minister Stephen Dawson notes “Perth Zoo’s Summer activities are a great example of conservation tourism and provide opportunities for all ages to enjoy one of WA’s iconic attractions.

“Zoo Up Late is perfect for families with older children and young adults who can see the animals like never before in the twilight hours and enjoy a picnic dinner or feast from the Zoo food trucks.

“The season culminates with ‘Wild Things’, the finale Perth Festival event which reinforces just how special Perth Zoo is. It will include some of WA’s most talented authors and performers and celebrate the remarkable animals who live at Perth Zoo along with the work the Zoo team does to safeguard them in the wild.”

As part of a standard entry ticket to Perth Zoo, visitors can also spend longer at the Zoo over the summer break, with Zoo Up Late, until 7:30pm every Saturday through January.
