Crowd violence erupts during Suncorp Stadium NRL clash
Footage has emerged of a fight involving around 15 NRL fans at Suncorp Stadium yesterday during the clash between the Dolphins and Warriors.
Media outlets have posted video of footage of the violence which occurred in the venue’s concourse seating which occurred over several rows of seating and then spread on to the adjacent stairs.
While no security staff or police were involved, fellow spectators were seen attempting to pull the brawlers apart with other fans attempting to avoid the drama.
The incident comes a week after Bulldogs fans were criticised for intimidating a Canberra fan after a game at Sydney’s Belmore Sports Ground and reports of heavy-handed policing at an A-League game at Suncorp Stadium in March.
Video circulated on social media showed a fan outside Suncorp Stadium on Sunday 3rd March prior to the Brisbane Roar game against Melbourne Victory being restrained by two police officers and a security guard.
The supporter can be heard screaming: "I can't breathe."
Following yesterday’s incident, media reports indicate that it will be investigated by Suncorp Stadium management.
Suncorp Stadium management has not issued a statement on the matter.
