Community to benefit from upgrades at Coolum Aquatic Centre
Set to open for the 2018/19 swimming season, the Coolum Peregian Aquatic Centre has been improved with a series of small upgrades during the winter months.
Sunshine Coast Councillor Stephen Robinson said the planned $80,000 refurbishment works of the ageing amenities formed part of Council’s ongoing commitment to providing quality community recreation venues.
He explained “I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during the refurbishment works which are now complete and also provide improved safety, water and energy saving benefit.
“The before and after photos show the extent of the works with new partitions, mirrors, LED lighting, fixtures, water saving showerhead and toilets.
“To improve safety for patrons, the old tiles were removed to make way for non-slip flooring and to complete the picture the facility was repainted.”
The improvements follow facility manager Swim Fit having invested $280,000 to construct a new splash pad during 2017, which proved popular with children visiting the popular Sunshine Coast Council - owned community facility.
Swim Fit’s Operations Manager at the Centre, Michael Vidulich, said the refurbishment of the amenities was welcomed and would certainly provide an ultimate experience for patrons.
Vidulich advised “I would like to thank Council for their ongoing commitment to invest in this popular community facility.
“The upgraded amenities certainly complement the soft play splash pad and the café offering a relaxing place for parents to meet for coffee while the kids enjoy the facilities.”
