City of Sydney public swimming pools offer day of free entry
The City of Sydney is today marking the start of summer with free entry to its public swimming pools.
Coinciding with what is expected to be a sweltering day, the council is opening its six aquatic centres across the inner city for free public access from 8am to 3pm.
The open day will apply to sports and swimming centres in Camperdown, where the mercury is expected to climb to 36C, as well as Ultimo (34C), the CBD (34C), Zetland (33C) and Surry Hills (33C).
The participating pools are:
Andrew 'Boy' Charlton Pool, The Domain
Prince Alfred Park Pool, Surry Hills
Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Ultimo
Victoria Park Pool, Camperdown
Cook and Phillip Park Pool
Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Zetland
Andrew 'Boy' Charlton at The Domain, in the heart of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, is included in the deal having recently undergone a $10 million refurbishment.
Visitors to all six pools will be granted free access throughout the day, as well as free fitness classes and advice from on-site wellbeing experts.
Classes range from yoga to spin to bootcamp workouts. Each of the centres is also running its own giveaways and competitions to celebrate summer.
In a statement the City of Sydney advised “whether you’re a fitness enthusiast, a water lover, or simply looking for a new way to spend your day, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
“This is a chance for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, have fun, and prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing. We can’t wait to see you there.”
