City of Monash looks to celebrate Oakleigh Recreation Centre reopening

Monash City Council is set to welcome the community to see the newly transformed Oakleigh Recreation Centre at an Open Day this Saturday (23rd January).

The free, COVIDSafe Community Open Day will give existing members, and anyone else interested, the opportunity to check out the centre and its facilities following its major $25 million revamp.

The upgraded facilities include a larger gym, five new indoor multi-purpose sports courts, pilates and yoga rooms, a cycle room, a state-level gymnastics facility for the Waverley Gymnastics Centre and new bathroom facilities.

Thrilled that this important community facility is now ready to enjoy and that the community can try out what’s on offer, City of Monash Mayor, Brian Little advised “I’m not only excited as a Councillor to have this fantastic facility in Monash but I am also a member of Oakleigh Recreation Centre and have been eagerly awaiting its reopening.

“Council is very pleased to be providing this important facility to the local community to meet the growing need for local and regional netball, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and other sports.”

Building on the Council’s commitment to a healthy and active Monash, the project was funded with contributions from Victorian Government (through Sports Recreation Victoria), Federal Government, and Waverley Gymnastics Centre.

Open Day sessions start from 9am.
