The City of Monash has appointed a social media manager to look after all online content for its three leisure centres.

The role of eMarketing Officer for the City of Monash Aquatics and Leisure Services, filled by Emily Figgis, is a unique position that focusses on engaging the online community with information and education, providing a diverse range of online content, information and education as well as increasing the awareness of the role that social media plays in the digital world of today.

Figgis will be working with the Monash Aquatic & Recreation Centre (MARC), Clayton Aquatics & Health Club and Oakleigh Recreation Centre with her key responsibility being to increase the size of the social media communities on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

She  will also be creating fun and informative videos for YouTube and Centre websites, as well as researching, developing and posting blogs and other online content.

Commenting on the appointment, MARC Centre Manager Kris Miller said "we see having an online presence as a key part of our marketing strategy. With the significant growth of social media we decided to appoint someone who can bring life to all our online platforms."

Each of the Centres has a Facebook community and can also be followed on Twitter for updates.
