Chinese attraction opens giant swing above 300 metre chasm

A giant cliff-side ride that swings guests above a 300 metre cliff face has opened at an attraction near the Chinese city of Chongqing.

Already home to four other cliff side swings, the swing at the Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park has opened its latest attraction, which swings guests 20 metres out from the cliff edge above a 300 metre drop.

The attraction, which also has a transparent walkway extending from 80 metres out from the cliff edge, attracts up to 4,000 visitors a day to ride the unique swings.

In a video provided by the theme park, various tourists can be seen being strapped to the seat, pulled up to a 90-degree point facing the ground before being catapulted into the air over the valley.

A spokesperson from the Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park told MailOnline that the swing is “100% safe”.

He also said that a tourist needs to be aged between 18 to 48 years, no shorter than 150 cm and lighter than 85kg to be able to ride the largest swing.

Guests are only protected by the safety belts and there are no safety nets below the cliff.

The Park’s glass-bottomed is claimed to be the world's longest cantilevered glass-bottomed walkway cost 40 million yuan to build.
