Childcare Regulations for NZ Fitness Centres
New Zealand's Ministry of Education (MoE) has recently realised draft guidelines for childcare in fitness centres. The draft standards are available from the MoE web site, and also from FitnessNZ.
FitnessNZ has been lobbying the government for a change in this area for some time, Chief Executive Richard Beddie commenting that "the draft standards have picked up almost all of the concerns we had, and will go along way to addressing the industry's concerns, and ultimately make childcare more accessible for parents using exercise facilities."
Beddie adds that "we will now be working with MoE to look at some of the details in the standards, as well as helping inform the industry about the requirements, and how to meet the standards."
