CERM releases latest aquatic, recreation and sport facilities performance indicators bulletin
The CERM Performance Indicators® Project at the Centre for Tourism & Leisure Management, University of South Australia has recently published its latest Bulletin (Vol 21, ISSN 1320 2359) consisting of results from CERM's annual Benchmarking Survey for Australian public aquatic, recreation and sport centres.
The 2012 CERM PI Bulletin lists over 50 operational management benchmarks for three groupings of public 'dry' sport and leisure centres, and over 70 benchmarks for the nine groupings of aquatic centres. The operational management benchmarks cover the following categories of facility operation: finance, services, marketing, staff, facility presentation, utilities, membership, and equipment.
Data for the benchmarks was provided by 151 centres from throughout Australia for the 2011/12 financial year. These data have been combined with data from the two previous financial years to provide the 2010-2012 benchmarks based on data from a total of 106 dry centres and 344 aquatic centres.
Due to changes in the sample of centres that contribute data annually, medians for the three most recent financial years tend to provide more stable benchmarks.
The full list of benchmarks for three groups of dry centres and nine groups of aquatic centres are published in the '2012 CERM PI® Operational Management Benchmarks for Australian Public Sport, Leisure & Aquatic Centres' bulletin.
A selection of other benchmarks (such as 75th percentiles) can be computed for CERM PI Project subscribers on request. CERM PI is a research project in the Centre for Tourism & Leisure Management, UniSA Business School, at the University of South Australia.
