Central Coast to raise Asian awareness

In advance of their first game in the Asian Champions League, the Central Coast Mariners football club has secured a $600,000 sponsorship deal with its local government for campaign.
The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) has reported that s that the Marinersâ and the local government are hoping to raise awareness of the Central Coast region in Asia while also fostering links with the Asian business community.
The regionâs tourism logo and a promotional website â www.thecoast.cc â will be displayed on the teamâs shirts during the competition, which is expected to be watched by up to 1.6 billion people. The SMH reports that the State Government, Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council have each contributed $200,000 each to the deal.
The Marinersâ Asian Champions League campaign began last night with a match against Korean club Pohang Steelers. The competition runs until November, when the final will be hosted in Tokyo.
