Centennial Parklands releases free digital nature guide

Centennial Parklands has this week released a new, free digital walking guide that gives users the opportunity to access a personalised self-guided tour of the nature and wildlife highlights of the important public park.

The new Nature and Wildlife Walking Tour uses leading-edge ‘geocache’ technology and features an interactive map to guide visitors through the Parklands. The app additionally features a mix of audio, photo and video content to help tell the stories and highlight the features during the relaxed 45-minute walk.

Centennial Parklands Marketing and Brand Manager Antonia Sherry explains “visitors to the Parklands have really made it clear they want information in a timely, on-demand and accessible format.

“Four in every five visitors to the Parklands carry a smartphone and routinely use them to look up information. As a result we have invested significantly in upgrading and improving our digital presence. This is the third app we’ve released now and the response has been highly positive.”

Centennial Parklands is one of Australia’s most popularly visited green spaces, with more than 20 million visits a year. While not neglecting the more traditional means of providing information, such as printed maps and brochures, there has been a dedicated push to creating a digital-first approach to meet the needs of visitors.

Sherry added “it’s about creating the digital parklands - a 21st century approach to providing information to anyone, anytime, anywhere.”

The new Nature and Wildlife Tour app is available to access now via the iziTravel platform, and all three Centennial Parklands visitor apps are now available for download for Apple and Android devices here.
