Casey Stadium launches Access Key

Casey Stadium, located in the Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne East, continues to improve its access and inclusion through their recent implementation of an ‘Access Key’. The City of Casey facility provides a range of inclusive programs and services, with the Access Key providing a valuable support for those accessing the Centre.

Alongside the YMCA Victoria and ONE Casey, AccessAbilityAustralia (AAA) have developed an Access Key which provides critical orientation, structural and sensory information about the facility to prepare people prior to visiting.

Available on both Casey Stadium and AAA websites, the Access Key compliments the accessible programs and facilities.

Access Keys are customised accessibility guides that provide convenient and accurate information about venues or events including venue layout, parking, access in and around including ease of movement, customer service/ticketing, toilets including environmental specifications, accessible offerings and procedural and sequential information on accessing services and sensory elements.

Director and Co-Founder of AccessAbilityAustralia Maxine Parker advised “the symbolism of Access Keys for facilities that open their doors to all people in the community can help break down stereotypes and build stronger culture, stronger communities and safer places to live.”

Casey Stadium is a state-of-the-art facility that has recently undergone a major redevelopment and now features 10 multipurpose indoor courts including a 1500 seat show court, five indoor cricket/futsal courts and a dedicated gymnastics area.

The Stadium prides itself on being accessible to all people with a variety of programs available for children, those with a disability and the ageing population.

Casey Stadium’s Program and Inclusion Coordinator Matt De Poilly added “the implementation of the access key compliments our programs perfectly. We are keen to get the local community aware of the programs and facilities available and access key will help us to achieve this.”

There are a variety of all ability programs available for both children and adults, such as the Casey Sports Zone program, multi-sport program designed to introduce participants to a range of sports, athletics and movement activities. Multiple programs such as specialised all abilities MiniRoos soccer and Cricket Blast programs will be launching in 2020.
